Culture and history

In Letařovice, the Church of Saint James is documented as early as 1363. Its wooden coffered ceilings and traces of medieval wall paintings have been preserved.

The festival Pouť mezi dvěma Jány in Letařovice includes a traditional Corpus Christi procession. North of Bílá, on the road from Český Dub to Petrašovice, stands a Baroque chapel originally dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It was built in 1773 and restored in 1881.

On the village square in Bílá stands a wooden house dating from 1833. A former farmstead in Bílá is already mentioned in the land register of the Český Dub estate from 1567. The writer Karolina Světlá set the plot of her novel Nemodlenec in this former farmstead. The Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity bears the painted year 1733 on the frieze of its façade.

Landscape

The fortified hilltop settlement of Klamorna lies on a rocky promontory above the confluence of the Oharka and Mohelka rivers; its acropolis was protected by a double rampart. Klamorna is associated with the Eneolithic, the Bronze Age, and the High Middle Ages.

Getting around

Regional cycle route no. 3049 Trávníček–Pěnčín–M. Rohozec connects Bílá to Proseč pod Ještědem to the north and to Vlastibořice near Sychrov to the south.
