Horní Řasnice: Hotels and Accommodation

In Horní Řasnice, sacred architectural history and remarkable nature observations come together. The history of the village is particularly vividly reflected in the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary.

Culture

The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary in Horní Řasnice is originally a Gothic church from the second half of the 13th century that was remodelled in the Baroque style. An examination of the nave uncovered exceptionally valuable wall paintings that can be dated to the beginning of the 17th century. The uncovered wall paintings depict the Creation of Adam and Eve and the Last Judgment in medallions framed with ornamentation.

Near House No. 79 in Horní Řasnice, an iron cross stands on a stone pedestal beneath two mature trees. The Chapel of Panny Marie Sněžné in Srbská is also part of the sacred heritage in the area: the childless couple Magdalena and Josef Legler erected it in 1863, and it was completed in 1867. Every year, the church association organises cultural events at Easter, Christmas and on Mother’s Day, and regularly welcomes musical ensembles to the church.

Nature

The Kamenný vrch nature monument is home to 150 to 300 nests of the protected wood ant species Formica polyctena. New colonies develop particularly at the edge of the forest near the former sand pit. Kingfishers live along the Řasnice stream.

Geographical Location

At Bílá skála, there is no path from the road across the terrain; the site is more than 250 metres from the road. The Chapel of Panny Marie Sněžné can be reached from the Jindřichovice p/Smrkem – Skanzen railway station after approximately an hour’s walk through woodland and pastureland.

The border crossing to Poland near Srbská, which was restored in the 1990s, has been designated for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists since 1 December 2006.
