Frýdlant: Hotels and Accommodations

Frýdlant is home to the railway museum of the Spolek Frýdlantské okresní dráhy in a former locomotive shed. It preserves exhibits and documents on the history of the local railways; photographs, additional documents and artefacts relating to the history of the FOD lines, as well as the historic narrow-gauge motor locomotive T 36.002, are on display.

Culture

The Stations of the Cross in Frýdlant were established in 1737 and renovated in 2017. They comprise fourteen stations, a Holy Sepulchre, a spring and a hermitage.

The town museum is located on the second floor of Frýdlant Town Hall. It displays guild chests and historic furnishings that document the region’s craft and civic traditions.

One of Frýdlant’s oldest buildings houses a moving Christmas nativity scene. It was created by Gustav Simon, who came from Frýdlant; its clockwork mechanism moves more than 100 human and animal figures.

The signposted Sluneční cesty circular viewpoint trail serves to explore Frýdlant and is connected to the international Intercontinental Sun Trail (Sun Trail Intercontinental).

Orientation

A paid car park is located 50 metres from the entrance to Frýdlant Castle and castle complex.

The corner tower of Frýdlant Town Hall is 48 metres high. Its open gallery at a height of 27 metres offers panoramic views of the town, the castle and the Jizera Mountains.

The wider regional surroundings of Frýdlant include the mountains Kančí vrch, Bába, Ostrý and Ptači vrchy.

The castles Czocha - Zamek XIVw. and Zamek Gryf are also located in the wider regional surroundings.

The ruins of the Hagenwerder power station and the historic ruin Former Lauban Railway Substation are also located there.
