Hiking

The approach to Valdštejn Castle leads through Pelešany to a car park below the castle. The hiking route from Pelešany to the ruins of Valdštejn Castle begins there and follows a green-marked trail; from there, Valdštejn Castle can be reached via a 700-metre-long green-marked footpath. A green-marked route towards Pelešany and Valdštejn branches off via a narrow, uphill path to Kalvárie.

Hlavatice can only be reached on foot via the red-marked Zlatá stezka Českého ráje hiking trail, which leads from the Turnov město railway stop towards Valdštejn Castle. Janova vyhlídka is the first viewpoint along this route.

Cycling routes

The signposted Maloskalský okruh III cycling route continues through Pelešany to Valdštejn Castle. After Valdštejn Castle, the cycling circuit continues to Hrubá Skála Château and from there on to Kopicův statek.

Landscape

Hlavatice is an isolated sandstone rock at the end of the Hruboskalský ridge. From the summit of the more than 12-metre-high rock formation, whose platform lies at an elevation of 380 metres above sea level, there is a panoramic view of Turnov, the Jizera, the Ještěd ridge, Bezděz Castle, Ralsko and the Kozákov ridge. Hruboskalsko offers marked trails for recreation and romantic walks.
