Troskovice: Hotels and Accommodation

Trosky Castle was founded by Čeněk z Vartenberka at the end of the 14th century, approximately between 1380 and 1390. During the Hussite Wars, Trosky Castle was besieged in 1424 and 1428, including by Žižka’s troops.

Culture

The Baba Tower can be reached via 138 steps and features a viewing walkway offering wide-ranging views across the landscape. The Muzeum panenek a medvídků pod Troskami presents exhibitions of historic and artistic dolls, teddy bears, and toys. Located in Troskovice, the museum comprises around 3,000 exhibits.

Routes

Marked hiking trails lead to Trosky Castle from Sobotka, Hrubá Skála, Valdštejn, Borecké skály, and Podtrosecké rybníky. The nearest railway stations to Trosky Castle are Borek pod Troskami and Ktová; both are located approximately 3.5 kilometers away and can be reached via marked trails. A seasonal tourist bus connects Jičín with Hrubá Skála via Prachovské skály, Jinolice, and Troskovice. From the stop near the Svitačka campsite, it is 1.3 kilometers to Trosky Castle via marked green and blue hiking trails.

The 39-kilometer Branžež–Kopicův statek cycling route also passes through Troskovice and is primarily suitable for mountain bikes and cross bikes.

Nature

Apolena is located 0.5 kilometers east of Troskovice. Apolena includes Sklepy, the largest rock fissure cave in the Bohemian Paradise, and a traditional winter refuge for bats.

Children

In June 2024, the “Trosky dětem a školákům” project was launched. For an additional charge on top of the admission ticket, children can purchase suitable worksheets and complete entertaining and educational tasks during their tour of the castle.
