Nové Heřminovy is located in a valley along the Opava River. The core of the Ptačí hora area is the Ptačí hora national nature monument, which protects natural submontane beech and beech-fir forests with a proportion of primeval Jeseník larches (Larix decidua).

Activities

Cycle route No. 6161 runs from Lesní mlýn via Václavov u Bruntálu, Valšov, Mezina, Dlouhá Stráň, Milotice nad Opavou, and Nové Heřminovy to Čaková. It is 43.2 km long. Route 6162 is 26.3 km long.

The “Naučná stezka Nové Heřminovy” educational trail consists of two routes. The local route is 1.5 km long and includes seven stations covering the history and unique architecture of the municipality, including the former spas. The second route, which leads through the surroundings of the municipality, is 6 km long and includes five stations covering local natural attractions.

The “Vyhlídka u Žanety” viewpoint in Nové Heřminovy offers views of Praděd and seating.

Culture and history

Next to the Chapel of the Holy Trinity stands a stone cross dating from 1733.
