Located directly in Horní Město is the medieval Stříbrný důl silver mine. It is a unique site representing silver and iron ore mining from the end of the 15th to the end of the 19th century. The tour route includes approximately 450 m of accessible mine tunnels and three mining chambers; the experience particularly includes climbing ladders. A reservation in the reservation system is required to visit the underground area of Horní Město.

Landscape

Horní Město lies on the border between Hrubý Jeseník and Nízký Jeseník at an altitude of 570 to 700 metres. From Skály or Horní Město, an approximately 3 km forest walk leads along the Huntava stream to the Rešovské vodopády waterfalls.

The protected area of Rešovské vodopády is located in the municipalities of Horní Město and Tvrdkov, including the cadastral area of Rešov. It protects a deeply incised rocky gorge with the natural course of the Huntava stream, waterfalls and numerous rapids.

Skalské rašeliniště is located north of Horní Město. It is a protected natural area of approximately 20 hectares in the source area of the Huntava stream. Protected plant species grow there. Access leads across grazing areas and may not be possible during grazing periods.

Churches and Local History

Horní Město was established in the 16th century near silver mines. The Church of Saint Mary Magdalene was built of stone in 1611 and 1612. It contains an altarpiece painted by Jan Kryštof Handke in 1768, as well as two superimposed wooden galleries decorated with ornaments and scenes from the Stations of the Cross.

In the Skály district, the church dedicated to Saint Wenceslas dates from 1812 and contains a painting by Jan Kryštof Handke.
