Kamenec is a wetland in the floodplain of the Morávka, with a network of pools and a saline pond adjoining a bog.

Nature

The Niva Morávky natural monument encompasses areas in the cadastral territory of Dobrá u Frýdku-Místku. It protects a section of the Morávka River as an alpine river course with gravel deposits and the associated characteristic communities, as well as accompanying ash-alder floodplain forests and oak-hornbeam forests. Because of its scientific importance extending beyond the lowlands of the Moravian-Silesian Region, Niva Morávky was included in the Natura 2000 network as a site of European importance.

The Profil Morávky natural monument protects the gorge-like course of the natural, gravel-bearing Morávka River, with rock steps and rapids.

Geographical Setting

The mountains of Kyčera, Kykulka, Ropička and Ostrá are located around Dobrá.

In the wider regional surroundings of Dobrá lies Kończyce Małe - Zamek XV w., a castle.

History and Culture

The early Baroque Church of St. George (Kostel sv. Jiří) in Dobrá was built by František Eusebius z Oppersdorfu between 1682 and 1686. The so-called Russian tower of this church was added between 1816 and 1818. The main pilgrimage to the church takes place on the Sunday after the feast day of Saint George.

The “U Oráče” restaurant is a Baroque building dating from around 1720.

Activities and Events

The Jihlava—Český Těšín cycle path runs along the edge of Dobrá.

Swimming is possible in the Morávka when the water quality is very good.

Doberská pětka is a traditional running competition in Dobrá; its twelfth edition took place there on 23 May 2026. This edition included a race for preschool children with 70 participants and an extensive accompanying programme for children.

Velká Doberská is a traditional community event held at the end of the summer holidays.
