Culture and History

The stone All Saints Church was built in 1577 in the Gothic style on the site of an earlier wooden church and later modified in the Baroque style. In 1653, it was consecrated by Olomouc Bishop Gobbár.

The municipal museum “Kožane město” was opened on August 7, 2010, in the premises of a former strap workshop. The whip from Metylovice is also part of the town’s craft history: in the past, it was known throughout the region and beyond the present-day borders of the Czech Republic, and it also became known overseas. The “Dřevoryt Cyrila a Metoděje” is a wood relief by the renowned carver Boris Zvada.

Landscape and Pilgrimage

The mountains of Skalka, Ostrá, Kyčera, and Kykulka lie in the surroundings of Metylovice. Čupek is a popular pilgrimage site; the traditional pilgrimage takes place there on July 5, the feast day of Saints Cyril and Methodius. The summit of Čupek can be reached on foot, by bicycle, by kick scooter, and with a stroller.

Trails

The Metylovice–Ondřejník route runs from Čupek via “Metylovice, kostel” to Ondřejník and Skalka. It is described as moderately difficult and is suitable for pedestrians, cyclists, and children. It can be started at the “Metylovice, kostel” bus stop.
