Životice U Nového Jičína: Hotels and Accommodation

Životice u Nového Jičína is located in the Pobeskydí Nature Park in the Moravian-Silesian Region. The Jičínka River flows through the village valley, and the landscape around Životice u Nového Jičína is suitable for easy walks.

History and Culture

The brick Church of St. John the Baptist was built in Životice u Nového Jičína in 1902. The original wooden Church of St. John dated from 1451 and burned down completely in 1898. The first written mention of the village dates from 1399.

A wooden altar from the church is dated to 1482 and is now located in the Moravian Gallery in Brno. During excavations in Životice u Nového Jičína, 92 Hungarian gold ducats from the 15th and 16th centuries were also discovered in 1898. The restored parish building near the church provides accommodation for 33 guests.

Cycle Paths and Walks

The “Koleje” cycle path runs along the route from Nový Jičín to Hostašovice and passes through Životice u Nového Jičína at kilometre 1.7. The route is easy, has only slight inclines, and is also suitable for families with children.

On the Nový Jičín–Mořkov–Hodslavice route, you can return to Nový Jičín via the František Palacký educational trail. The educational trail leads through Straník, Kojetín and Skalky.

Events and Local Traditions

The village day “Den obce” was regularly celebrated in Životice u Nového Jičína in August. At the traditional Children's Day on 4 June 2017, there was a fairy-tale meadow with entertaining tasks for children of different ages. Traditionally, an open “smaženice” was also held for everyone on Whit Sunday.
