Ženklava: Hotels and Accommodations

Ženklava lies in a valley along the Sedlnička stream. The 539-meter-high Kotouč mountain (German: Ölberg) dominates the valley to the north; the Pekla ridge, up to 603 meters high (German: Höllenberg), forms the boundary with Lichnov. To the west, the valley is bounded by the 561-meter-high Hlásnice hill (German: Wachberg), which borders the municipality of Životice.

The mountains of Kamenárka, Trojačka, Oprchlice, and Kyčera are located in the vicinity of Ženklava.

History

Ženklava was probably founded in the 13th century. The first written mention of Ženklava dates from 1411, while the first mention of a church in Ženklava dates from 1512.

Since July 25, 1896, the local railway from Štramberk to Veřovice has run through the territory of Ženklava, west of Pekla.

Culture

A single-nave, non-oriented church with a square tower on the epistle side of the nave stands approximately in the center of Ženklava.

Kristián David was born in Ženklava on February 17, 1692. The Kristián David Museum is located in his now-renovated birthplace (No. 43) in Ženklava and features an exhibition about Kristián David and related topics. A commemorative plaque stands in front of Kristián David's birthplace.
