Nature and Townscape

Along the Lubina River, the character of the original rural development has been preserved. A prominent landscape feature is the abandoned quarry on Hončova hůrka. It is registered by the Czech Geological Survey as an interesting geological locality and is part of the Podbeskydí National Geopark. At the same time, Hončova hůrka is considered a special mineralogical locality at an elevation of 336 metres above sea level.

Hončova hůrka can be reached by car without any access restrictions; such an approach leads to within 250 metres of the locality. A field road leads to the summit. From Hončova hůrka, there are views south towards Příbor and west into the Lubina Valley, as well as over Skotnice.

Culture and History

The “Museum of Rural Life and Agriculture” was first opened to the public in mid-April 2011. It is located in the attic of the Skotnice Municipal Office.

Skotnice is also home to a water mill with uniquely preserved technical equipment. It was built in the second half of the 19th century and was probably constructed on older foundations. The townscape also includes a three-storey brick wayside shrine dating from the first half of the 19th century.

Sports and Facilities

In the locality of Skorotín in Skotnice, there is a publicly accessible sports and leisure complex with an asphalt-surfaced sports field. The sports field is intended for football, volleyball, foot tennis and basketball.
