The Vagonářské muzeum is housed in the chateau building in Studénka. It presents the historical development of rail transport and wagon manufacturing and includes a functioning model railway.

Culture

The buildings of Starý a nový zámek in Studénka are protected cultural monuments. The park surrounding Starý a nový zámek contains numerous remarkable foreign tree species.

Zámek Nová Horka is a three-winged, two-storey Baroque chateau built in the 1740s on the site of a Renaissance fortress. The chateau houses the “Kotvice” exhibition, which focuses on the surrounding nature. Commentated tours of the chateau’s history are also offered there, and restored halls can be viewed.

Nature

Kotvice features a characteristic mosaic of species-rich ecosystems, including ponds with breeding islands and riparian vegetation, floodplain forests, oak-hornbeam forests with a higher proportion of deadwood, as well as flooded meadows with wetlands and pools. Natural and near-natural plant communities as well as rare and specially protected plant and animal species occur there.

At Kotvice Pond, a birdwatching station is located above the water surface along the Kotvice educational trail.

Trails

The Školní naučná stezka educational trail is approximately 1.5 km long, accessible year-round, and has 12 stations. At Pasečný most, the Školní naučná stezka connects to the Naučná stezka Kotvice educational trail.

The chateau is located on the Beskydy Cycle Route; bicycle racks are situated directly at the chateau.
