Veřovice: Hotels and accommodations

Veřovice lies in the upper reaches of the Jičínka River. Natural formations, a historic sacred building, railway lines, and a seasonal market shape the town’s diverse facets.

Nature

Velký Javorník, Dlouhá, and Krátká are located within the cadastral area of Veřovice. Velký kámen lies in the Hodslavický Javorník on the slope of Velký Javorník, about 2 km southeast of Veřovice. The rock wall exposes Flysch rocks of the Outer Western Carpathians. Velký kámen also includes a valuable geomorphological formation and a near-natural forest fragment with high biodiversity.

Trails

The Veřovické vrchy educational trail has 13 stations, is 21 km long, and has an elevation gain of 600 metres. It is suitable for hiking and can also be used for cross-country skiing in winter. The route from Veřovice to Velký Javorník follows a cycle path that can also be used with a pushchair.

Culture

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was built in 1854 on the site of a wooden church dating from 1784. It is located at Veřovice 143, 742 73 Veřovice. The church is 45 metres long, 50 metres long including the sacristy, 17.5 metres wide, and 35 metres high. A wolf sculpture stands on the access road from Fojtství.

Railways and local history

The Kojetín–Ostrava railway line, which runs through Veřovice, was built in 1888. The Veřovice–Studénka connecting railway branches off in Veřovice and dates from 1896.

Market activity

At the 2024 pre-Christmas market in Veřovice, gingerbread, wreaths, candles, pretzels, baked teas, marzipan treats, dried apples and pumpkin, as well as Christmas pastries and other original goods, were offered.
