Nature and trails
The educational trail in Chuchelenský les forms a 6 km circular route that starts and ends in Borová, a district of Bolatice. Information boards provide details about animals, plants and trees. Several rest areas are part of the trail; the Zbojnička stream rises at one of them.
The 29 km-long cycle route 554 Prajzská cesta runs from Kravaře to Šilheřovice and passes through Bolatice. The town’s landscape features also include dry polders. Their technical design and integration into the landscape are of interest, as are the fauna and flora present there.
History and culture
The Church of Saint Stanislaus in Bolatice was built in 1703 and expanded to its present form in 1911–1912. The parish church of Saint Stanislaus preserves relics of Saint Stanislaus, which were donated to it from Krakow in 2024 and are kept in a reliquary in the church’s left side aisle. Odpust, the parish church’s patronal feast, is celebrated every year on the Sunday after the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ.
The first written mention of Bolatice dates from 1250. It appears in a letter from Pope Innocent IV issued in Lyon on 18 December 1250, which transferred the area to the Cistercian monastery in Velehrad.
The open-air museum Skanzen lidových tradic a řemesel in Bolatice is located in one of the few preserved traditional village buildings from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Visitors can see traditional living quarters, a washhouse, a horse stable, a cowshed, a granary, as well as craft tools, agricultural machinery and household appliances.
The archaeological section of the experimental archaeology exhibition at Skanzen lidových tradic a řemesel presents artefact finds from Bolatice. In the experimental section, visitors learn how people lived in prehistoric times and what they needed for life. The exhibition contains no replicas; its contents were developed experimentally.
The permanent exhibition of glacial erratics in Bolatice is visited by the general public and schools. Meetings take place at Muzeum souvkĹŻ twice a year, in April and September.
Water and sport
The outdoor swimming pool and sports leisure complex in Bolatice has a large 30 × 25 m pool, a 15 × 25 m non-swimmer pool and a 5 × 10 m children’s paddling pool. Other activities available there include beach volleyball, pétanque and table tennis; bicycles can be rented.
