Culture and History

The Parish Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Hněvošice is an immovable cultural monument. The Baroque wooden parish church was built in 1730 and restored in 1842; at the same time, it is the only wooden church in Hlučínsko. The cemetery area with the church is freely accessible and allows for a close inspection of the monument. An interior tour of the wooden building can be arranged by agreement with the municipal office or the parish office.

The Church of Christ the Good Shepherd is a distinctive architectural landmark of Hněvošice and is visible from the wider surrounding area. The Hněvošický háj archaeological site, with five visible burial mounds, is also part of the local history. These originally date from the Bronze Age and later contained Slavic graves from the period of the Great Moravian Empire.

Nature and Educational Trail

The Hněvošický háj Nature Reserve protects a mosaic of oak-hornbeam forests, acid-loving oak forests, and significant plant and animal species of the Carpathian region.

The Hněvošický háj educational trail is located in the nature reserve of the same name between Hněvošice, Služovice and Oldřišov. It is approximately 3.5 km long and has seven information panels.

Cycle Routes

Cycle Route 6095 leads from the Pilszcz/Oldřišov border crossing via Oldřišov, Hněvošice and Vrbka to Svoboda. In Svoboda, it connects to Cycle Routes 552 Opava–Racibórz and 554 Prajzská cesta.

Geographical Location

In the immediate vicinity of Hněvošice are Almin kopec hill [Hněvošice] and Obecník hill [Oldřišov]. In the wider regional surroundings of Hněvošice are Rzuchow Castle - Zameczek, the Cvilin ruins, Přílet mountain, Vinná hora mountain, Dzimierz Castle - Zameczek and Czernica Castle - Dworek.
