Darkovice combines historical landmarks with ecclesiastical culture, traditional events, and paths through the countryside.

History and Culture

The heavy Czechoslovak fortification structure MO-S 20 Orel is the only structure built of the planned “U Orla” fortress. It has been preserved in the condition it was in in 1945 and is exceptionally opened to the public during the annual commemorative event held in May. From the highest points of Darkovice near Orel fortress, the view extends northeast as far as Poland.

The Church of St. Hedwig was consecrated on July 3, 2005. On March 25, 2010, it received a new organ, built and ceremonially blessed by the Kánský-Brachtl organ workshop from Krásné Loučky near Krnov. In 1823, a structure commemorating the abolition of compulsory labor in Prussia was also erected in Darkovice. Traditional events in Darkovice include Dožínky.

Hiking and Leisure

A blue-marked hiking trail runs through Darkovice along the Poruba-Slovan – Děhylov – Hlučín – Darkovičky – Darkovice – Bohuslavice route. International Cycle Route No. 5, the Amber Trail, runs through Darkovice along road III/4698.

The Na Hrázi sports and recreation area features a natural swimming pool with a main pool and a children's paddling pool, a children's area, and two beach volleyball courts.

Landscape and Surroundings

The Davidka hill [Hlučín] is located in the immediate vicinity of Darkovice. The Hranečník hill [Píšť] and Vinná hora mountain are located in the surroundings of Darkovice.

In the wider regional surroundings of Darkovice are the castles Rzuchow – Zameczek, Czernica – Dworek, Wodzisław Śląski – Ruiny Baszty, and Dzimierz – Zameczek, as well as Přílet mountain.
