Chvalíkovice lies at the transition between the foothills of the Nízký Jeseník mountains and the lowlands of the Moravice River valley. Several marked routes pass through the village, including cycle route 6055, which connects Branka u Opavy, Chvalíkovice, Vršovice, and Raduň and runs along Class III roads.

The first written mention of Chvalíkovice dates back to 1445; at that time, the village belonged to the Hradec estate. The Chapel of St. Michael the Archangel was built in 1865. It is the only cultural monument in Chvalíkovice and commemorates the victims of the First and Second World Wars. The local collection of monuments also includes a memorial to the citizens of the village who fell in the First and Second World Wars.
