Píšť combines religious cultural monuments, recurring events and specific summer activities with a natural monument in the surrounding area.

Culture

The Church of Saint Lawrence was built in 1743. Its interior contains Baroque statues of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. In 2002, the church was established as a Marian pilgrimage site for prayers for peace and reconciliation between nations. This pilgrimage site includes a Stations of the Cross completed in 2003, featuring ceramic reliefs, and a Lourdes grotto.

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk is an octagonal cultural monument dating from the late 19th century. It contains a sandstone statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from the 18th century. Another distinctive feature in Píšť is the park sundial: measuring 16 × 47 metres, it was the largest sundial of its type in Europe when it was created in July 2005.

Annual Cycle and Summer Activities

Every year in August, Píšť hosts the pilgrimage to Saint Lawrence, known as the “Píšťský odpust”. Several pilgrimage events take place during the week around 10 August.

In summer, Píšť has a local outdoor swimming pool and a local mini-golf course, which are used during the summer. An international mini-golf tournament is held every year at the mini-golf course by the outdoor pool as part of Czech-Polish cross-border cooperation.

Geographical Setting

Píšť has an international border crossing to Owsiszcze. In the vicinity of Píšť, the Hranečník natural monument protects a colony of grey herons (Ardea cinerea), which is rare in northern Moravia.
