Hrabyně: Hotels and Accommodation

Hrabyně is home to the National Memorial of the Second World War, the central memorial of its kind in the Czech Republic. The “Těžká léta 1938–1945” exhibition covers military and political events as well as the lives of civilians, culture, and the economy. The site includes a symbolic cemetery with 13,000 plaques bearing the names of the fallen. In good visibility, one of the two wedge-shaped structures offers views as far as Praděd, Lysá hora, and Poland. The visitor centre of the National Memorial is fully wheelchair accessible.

Culture and History

In the centre of Hrabyně stands the pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The Baroque church was completed around 1730 and consecrated in 1761. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk was erected in Hrabyňská alej in 1777.

The history of the town also includes the Zámecká míčovna, which is also called Belvedere and, due to its later use, sýpka. It is the only surviving building of the Hrabyně castle complex. Its significance lies in its original function, its age, and its connections to the history of the municipality and the Opava region.

From 14 to 16 August 2026, the traditional pilgrimage to Milostná Panna Maria will take place on Hrabyňský kopec.
