Hať lies in a gentle valley along the Bečva stream at the foot of the Hlučín Upland. Hať was first mentioned in a papal document issued in Lyon on 18 December 1250.

History and Culture

The Church of Saint Matthew in Hať was built by the Jesuit college in Opava. It is a Baroque church constructed of stone and well-fired bricks; its construction is dated to 1731 based on the year carved behind the main altar. The church contains a Way of the Cross with 14 Stations.

The Hlučínsko Collection of Folk Songs lists four songs under Hať: “Tam za horami”, “Na huře”, “U sušeda sum falešne okna” and “Něvědělch cestečky”.

Hiking Trails and Events

A yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Ostrava-Petřkovice via Koblov and Šilheřovice to Hať. From Hať, the yellow-marked hiking trail continues via Závada to the forester’s lodge near Bohuslavice.

Kulíškova desítka is a charity run. The programme on 26 September 2026 in Hať also includes a family-friendly walking route for enjoying the surrounding landscape.

The surroundings of Hať include Vinná hora mountain and Halda Heřmanice hill. Davidka [Hlučín] hill is located in the immediate vicinity of Hať.
