Chlebičov: Hotels and Accommodation

Archaeological finds provide evidence that the area around Chlebičov was already settled in the Bronze Age, around 1800 BC. The first written mention of Chlebičov dates from 1250.

Landscape

The centre of Chlebičov lies in a valley depression formed by the Chlebičov stream in the hilly Hlučín Upland. Near the Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary in Chlebičov there is a glacial erratic described as the remnant of a massive northern glacier from the Ice Age. The chapel dates from 1895 and is a prominent feature of the village.

Leisure

Chlebičov Park offers green spaces as well as play and exercise facilities for visitors' leisure activities. It also includes a circuit for inline skating and a place to relax. Chlebičov swimming pool has a beach volleyball court.

Routes

A cycling route towards Svoboda with a renewed surface is suitable for cycling, inline skating and walking. Chlebičov is also located on the 276.5 km Moravian-Silesian Route of the Way of St. James, which leads from Poland to Austria via Opava and Hradec nad Moravicí to Olomouc, then onwards to Brno and Mikulov. A stamp can be obtained at the municipal office during office hours or by prior telephone appointment.

The Czech section of cycling route No. 552 from Opava to Racibórz is 14.00 km long and runs from Opava via Chlebičov, Svoboda and Kobeřice to the Strahovice/Krzanowice border crossing. It is considered the shortest cycling connection between the twin towns of Opava and Racibórz and runs away from roads used by motor vehicles.

Events

Dny obce Chlebičov is a recurring village festival; it takes place on 15 and 16 August, and an edition documented in 2019 was the fourth. On 29 August from 4 p.m., the gardeners of Chlebičov hold a traditional gardeners' evening featuring the judging of the “For the Most Beautiful Flowering Home” competition.
