Townscape and History

The Church of St. Cyril and Methodius is a prominent architectural landmark in the townscape of Dolní Lhota. A memorial at the local cemetery commemorates fallen tank crews. Near the school, a monument commemorates T. G. Masaryk, the founder of the Czechoslovak state and its first president.

After its restoration in 2023, the village chapel was made accessible in such a way that passers-by can look inside. The new chapel was consecrated on 8 August 2004 following extensive reconstruction.

Nature

Dolní Lhota lies on the left bank of the middle course of the Porubka stream. The educational trail presents visitors with interesting facts about local forest plant and animal species in a playful way. It is approximately 1 km long and has 17 information stations.

Cycling

Cycle route 6199 runs through Dolní Lhota from Vřesina towards Horní Lhota. Within the municipality, it follows a forest road alongside a yellow hiking trail marking; near the bicycle tram stop, there is an information board.

The Radegast Slezsko cycle path runs from Velká Polom to Dolní Lhota and, from the town centre, follows Lesní Street together with cycle route 6199. Dolní Lhota also has a cycle path and KČT hiking trail markings.

Events

The 8th edition of the Dolnolhotský BAJK mountain bike race is scheduled to take place in Dolní Lhota on Saturday, 19 June 2027. Dolnolhotský BAJK also includes mountain bike races for children in categories K and H.

A BEERFEST with refreshments such as pancakes, cake, sausages in a roll and potato pancakes was announced as part of Dolnolhotský Škrpál. The Obora Trail Run offered 5 km and 10 km races, as well as children's races over distances from 100 to 900 m.

Region and Transport

Tram line 915005 connects Ostrava, Dolní Lhota and Budišovice. Dolní Lhota is part of the Ostravsko tourism area, which is suitable for short recreational stays, hiking and cycling.
