Čechy Pod Kosířem: Hotels and Accommodation

Čechy pod Kosířem Château offers a guided tour with commentary of the interiors of the south wing. It is furnished in the style of the period of František Josef II. Silva-Tarouca and decorated with works by Josef Mánes. The château interiors also house the largest publicly exhibited collection of paintings by Josef Mánes in the Czech Republic.

Culture

The Čechy pod Kosířem château park covers 21.5 hectares and is considered one of the most valuable examples of Romantic landscape design in the Czech Republic. It includes the pseudo-Gothic Romantic Červená věž lookout tower and the Neoclassical Mánesův pavilon.

The Muzeum kočárů displays 50 carriages, including sleighs, as well as collections of hearses, bishops' carriages and carriage lanterns. The visit includes a restoration workshop, a gallery with documents, printed materials and plans, as well as sound, light and film projections.

The Hasičské muzeum is located on the grounds of a production hall belonging to the oldest factory for fire pumps in the former Austro-Hungarian Empire; the factory was founded in 1820. On 18 June 2025, the second part of the film exhibition by Jan and Zdeněk Svěrák was opened. This second part is aimed, among others, at children and focuses on the films Kuky se vrací and Tři bratři.

Nature

The marked Naučná stezka Velký Kosíř educational trail leads from Čelechovice via Velký Kosíř to Čechy pod Kosířem and back along the dirt road known as “Hraběcí cesta”. It is suitable for hiking and mountain biking.

Mount Horka and Mount Chlum are located in the vicinity of Čechy pod Kosířem. The mountains Skály and Skalky lie in the wider regional surroundings of Čechy pod Kosířem.

History

The Church of St. John the Baptist in Čechy pod Kosířem has an altarpiece depicting the Baptism of Christ by the Viennese painter F. A. Maulbertsch. Two Baroque statues by the Olomouc sculptor Ondřej Zahner stand in front of the church: Saint Paul with a book and Saint Peter with keys.
