Stražisko: Hotels and Accommodation

Stražisko lies in a narrow valley carved by the Romže River, which winds between the peaks of the Drahany Highlands here. The most prominent hill near Stražisko rises to 385 metres directly above the Romže and the road passing through the area. Stražisko railway station is located on railway line 306 between Prostějov and Dzbel.

Culture and History

In the centre of Stražisko, the Church of the Guardian Angels was built in 1728 on the site of the former Grünberg Castle. Part of the moat and rampart, along with small fragments of the masonry of the outer bailey, have survived from the castle.

The Chapel of Saint Gotthard stands in the middle of Stražisko’s Růžov district. It is a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The Church of the Guardian Angels and the Stations of the Cross are jointly protected as immovable cultural monuments of the Czech Republic.

The Stations of the Cross in Stražisko were built in 1854 and consist of 14 larger brick niche chapels containing paintings on sheet metal by the Prostějov painter Josef Vyjídáček, who worked as a bricklayer. A Lourdes grotto was added to the Stations of the Cross in 1895.

Stražisko is home to the Zátiší villa colony and other Art Nouveau villas. The surviving buildings, richly decorated with wood carvings, date from around the turn of the 20th century. The traditional Hody celebrations in Stražisko include an exhibition prepared by the women of Stražisko.

Routes and Leisure

An outdoor swimming pool with a 50-metre pool was built in Stražisko in 1973; it was completely reconstructed in 2011. Sports events are held on the grounds of the outdoor swimming pool in Stražisko.

The Romže Cycle Path was completed in 2025. It connects Konice with Stražisko and continues from Stražisko via Ptenský Dvorek, Ptení, Bělecký Mlýn and Kostelec na Hané to Prostějov. The Romže Cycle Path improves access to Stražisko for cyclists and for walking excursions.
