Němčice Nad Hanou: Hotels and Accommodation
Němčice nad Hanou can be explored through tangible historical evidence: the parish church of St. Mary Magdalene is one of the town’s important monuments. Its original stone structure dates from the late 15th century; in 1663, the church was severely damaged during an incursion by the Tatars. The freestanding bell tower is 37 metres high and protected as a monument. The freestanding bell tower in Němčice nad Hanou is one of five freestanding bell towers in Moravia.
Culture and History
The region’s everyday and festive culture is also associated with the town. The Hanácký němčický kroj is regarded as a local symbol of Němčice nad Hanou and is richly decorated with embroidery and lace. The Pantlék folklore ensemble has existed since 1991 and continues to preserve and pass on ethnographic traditions in Němčice nad Hanou. The first ethnographic exhibition in the Czech lands was held here as early as 1887.
Theatre showcases are another longstanding tradition: Němčice nad Hanou hosted its first showcase of theatre ensembles in 1971, and since 1983 the theatre showcases have been held annually. Since 1994, the annual showcase of amateur theatre ensembles has been called Hanácký divadelní máj. It is a regional showcase of rural theatre ensembles as well as a regional showcase of spoken theatre for children. Selected ensembles may be sent on to KDP Vysoké n. J. or CP Popelka Rakovník.
The archaeological site of Němčice nad Hanou has yielded Celtic coins and other coins from the ancient world. Numerous coin fragments, blanks and precious-metal pieces attest to the manufacturing character of the La Tène-period settlement of Němčice nad Hanou.
