Mladějovice: Hotels and Accommodation

Mladějovice can be discovered through individual, very specific local features: The protected Mladějovická lípa is a reddish-colored large-leaved lime tree with a trunk circumference of 893 cm and an estimated age of 400 years. A local chronicle reports that in 1922, thirteen schoolchildren and their teacher fit inside its hollow trunk.

Culture and History

The first mention of a church in Mladějovice dates back to 1131. The parish Church of St. Mary Magdalene is a single-nave longitudinal church from the late 18th century incorporating the core of an older tower. Its present form was created during a comprehensive reconstruction in 1791–1792.

The Mladějovice Stations of the Cross consists of a chapel and 14 stations dating from the second half of the 19th century near the local cemetery; its origins are still unknown. Next to the parish church are two valuable Empire-style tombs: the tomb of Ignác Müller dating from around 1839 and the tomb of Theodor Bratis dating from around 1832.

Landscape and Trails

From the site of the Mladějovice Stations of the Cross on the hill, visitors can see the Nízký Jeseník, Šternberk, Uničov, Litovel, the extensive Litovelské Pomoraví forest belt, and the panorama of Olomouc with the distinctive silhouette of the church on Svatý Kopeček.

Mladějovovice railway station is the starting point for blue- and yellow-marked hiking trails leading to the nearby Sovinecko Nature Park. The completed cycle paths along the Šternberk–Uničov route provide a safe cycling connection from Olomouc or Litovel.
