Smrzice: Hotels and accommodations

Smržice is home to the Church of St. Peter and Paul, which was built from 1854 to 1860 and consecrated on October 6, 1861, by the auxiliary bishop of Olomouc, Rudolf Baron von Thyssebaart. Its interior is 42 meters long, 14 meters wide, and 19 meters high.

Culture and history

The Baroque vicarage in Smržice was built in 1761 by Pastor Vogl on the site of an old demolished building and is the oldest building in the municipality. The municipality uses it for Easter and Christmas exhibitions.

In the immediate vicinity of Smržice are the Monument to the Victims of the First World War and the Statue of St. John of Nepomuk. In the wider regional area is the Monument to the Victims of the First and Second World Wars. The Church of the Guardian Angels is also located in the vicinity of Smržice.

In front of the Sokolovna in Smržice stands a Boží muka wayside shrine from the first half of the 18th century, described as the oldest in the Prostějov District. Three commemorative plaques dedicated to important figures from Smržice—Jakub Kresy, Jaroslav Kubíček, and editor Josef Kotek—are located in the municipality.

Activities

The sports and community complex in Smržice has a court with an artificial surface for tennis, small-sided football, and nohejbal. At the 25th edition of the Smržická šlapka cycling event on Saturday, September 2, 2023, both off-road and road routes were available.

The Naučná a poutní stezka to Stráž is 3.6 kilometers long. It leads from the village center to Stráž and back as far as the final station, and is marked with green KČT markings.

The mountains of Horka, Chlum, and Předina are located in the vicinity of Smržice. The hill of Stráž [Smžice] is also located nearby.
