Vícov lies at the foot of the Drahany Highlands. Ježův hrad rises on a hill above the Okluka River, an archaeological site with the remains of a large medieval castle and an older hillfort.

Culture and History

On 1 May 2022, the Feast of Saint Florian, the patron saint of the church, was celebrated in Vícov. The side altar of the Church of Saint Florian in Vícov is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary.

In the vicinity of Vícov are the Monument to the Victims of the First and Second World Wars, the Monument to the Victims of the First World War, the Statue of Saint John of Nepomuk and the Church of the Guardian Angels.

Landscape

To the southwest, Vícov borders the forested area of the Březina military training area. It lies on gently rolling uplands with deeply incised ravines, spruce and beech stands at higher elevations, and diverse deciduous forests in the valleys.

Routes through the Surroundings

Cycle Route 5031 runs through Vícov and connects there to Cycle Route 5, the Amber Trail. A red-marked hiking trail runs along the southwestern edge of the cadastral area of Vícov and forms part of the Prostějov–Plumlov–Hamry–Vícov–Stínava–Malé Hradisko–Seč–Přemyslovice–Náměšť na Hané route.

Ježův hrad is located near Vícov within a military training area; there is no marked trail leading to the castle.
