Oprostovice: Hotels and Accommodation

Oprostovice lies between Lipník nad Bečvou and Bystřice pod Hostýnem, extending in a north–south direction. In the center of the village stands the Chapel of Our Lady with its four-sided bell tower. The chapel with bell tower in Oprostovice bears a commemorative plaque for the local theologian and publicist ThDr. Bohumil Zlámal, who was born in Oprostovice and wrote 190 works on church history.

Cultural and Religious Heritage

The Chapel of Our Lady of Hostýn is dated to the period around 1750 to before 1830 and is attributed to the late Baroque and Classicist style periods. It was used for field services praying for a good harvest. The Chapel of Our Lady of Hostýn with its cross in Oprostovice has been registered as a protected cultural monument under registration number 106445 since December 5, 2019.

The stone cross next to the Chapel of Our Lady of Hostýn was erected in 1871 and later altered. An inscription from 1947 names the Štěpánová family from Oprostovice as the donors. Further stone monuments stand at various points around the village: the stone cross of the Jančíkovy family dates from 1859, while a stone cross from 1847 stands at the exit from Oprostovice in the direction of Radotín.

At the upper edge of Oprostovice stands a wayside shrine. It contains a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes in a glazed niche; a stone cross is located at the top of its column. From the shrine, the view extends as far as the Hostýnské vrchy hills on the horizon.

Landscape and Trails

At the northeastern edge of Oprostovice, behind the fence of a private garden, stands a pedunculate oak described as a natural monument. Its trunk circumference is 385 cm, its height is 19 m, and its estimated age is 150 to 200 years.

The path by the Chapel of Our Lady of Hostýn is marked for tourists and serves as a stopping point for hikers and cyclists. Regional Cycle Route 5035 also passes through Oprostovice, connecting Týn nad Bečvou, Bystřice pod Hostýnem, and Ratiboř.
