Žákovice: Hotels and Accommodation

Žákovice has been documented in written records since 1293. A recurring local tradition is “Vodění medvěda”, a masked procession held during the carnival season.

Water and Landscape

The Moštěnka is Žákovice’s main watercourse and flows from east to west through the village. On a hill in a grove near Žákovice’s recreational area stands a winter lime tree protected as a natural monument.

In the eastern part of Žákovice, there is a water mill with a small hydroelectric power station.

Culture and Villagescape

A chapel dating from the 17th century, located above the village, is one of Žákovice’s local monuments. A wayside shrine along a road is also among these local monuments.

The Chapel of Saint Nicholas was built in the 18th century and stands in a lime grove at a crossroads near Žákovice.

The centre of Žákovice has a triangular layout and is lined with rows of farmsteads. The bell tower is the defining structure of the village centre of Žákovice.

Leisure and Cycling Route

Žákovice has a sports and recreational area with a football pitch and a multi-purpose court. The Záhorská Cycling Route runs through the village towards Lipník nad Bečvou and in the other direction towards Bystřice pod Hostýnem.

Local Gatherings

Since 2011, members of TJ Žákovice have held a gathering under the pergola on Mondays from spring to autumn. Visitors can enjoy refreshments as well as grilled or smoked specialities.
