Radotín: Hotels and Accommodation

The first written mention of Radotín dates back to 1447. Even older traces can be found at the Mesla, U Kříže archaeological site: evidence has been found there of a Neolithic settlement as well as settlements of the La Tène and Púchov cultures.

Culture and History

Several stone crosses and the Chapel of the Virgin Mary give the village a distinctive historical character. A stone cross in Radotín was erected in 1855 at the expense of Antonín Lesák and the local residents. The 1890 stone cross was erected at the expense of Josef Čech and his wife Barbora in memory of their deceased daughter Františka.

The stone cross with a memorial plaque commemorating the First World War was erected in 1872, renewed and reconstructed in 1923, and restored in 2004. It commemorates the soldiers from Radotín who fell in the First World War.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary was built in 1952 and is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary. The chapel houses a bell cast in 1802 by the Olomouc bell founder Antonín Jan Alois Obletter.

The Na Zákaplí Cross was erected in 1904 at the expense of the Hindová family. It stands on the site of a former chapel that served as a place of prayer and provided shelter for travellers and hermits.

Landscape and Water

The Radotínský stream flows from north to south through the cadastral area of Radotín. In the Štěrbice Valley, with the Radotínský stream, varied waterscapes, quiet corners and small bodies of water alternate with one another.

The Štěrbice Valley is recommended for walks and quiet contemplation of nature.

Views and Trails

The Na Zákaplí Cross offers a view of part of Záhoří. From this spot, the path invites you to continue to a nearby spring or to Helfštýn Castle.
