Uhelná: Hotels and Accommodation

Uhelná stretches along the Stříbrný potok stream. The southern part of the village lies in the foothills of the Rychlebské hory mountains and reaches up to 500 metres above sea level.

Culture

The Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria was completed in 1803. It is a single-nave Neoclassical building, is considered an important cultural monument, has preserved its original furnishings and remains virtually intact. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in Uhelná is also protected as a heritage monument; it dates from the period after 1800. Since the beginning of the 20th century, Uhelná has been known for its pottery production.

Landscape

The Rychlebské hory–Račí údolí area includes the cadastral territory of Uhelná. It comprises two rocky, deeply incised valleys with steep slopes and numerous rock outcrops. In the extensive forests of the area, acidophilous beech forests are the predominant forest biotope type.

Water and Geology

Důl Antonín Pelnář is a flooded lignite open-pit mine 700 metres east of Uhelná. The site serves as a natural bathing area and recreation centre. Důl Antonín Pelnář is freely accessible; the access road reaches to within 250 metres of the site. At the same time, the open-pit mine is a geological locality registered with the Czech Geological Survey.

Getting Around

The educational trail along cycle route 6044 runs through Uhelná between Račí údolí and Vlčice.
