Věrovany: Hotels and accommodations

Věrovany is shaped by the river landscape of the Morava with its oxbow lakes. This landscape also includes the meandering Steklá watercourse and the Mlýnský náhon millrace. The Morava–Chropyňský luh Site of Community Importance encompasses the cadastral area of Věrovany, is part of the Natura 2000 network, and protects floodplain forests and extensively mown lowland meadows. It also preserves habitats of the European beaver and the great crested newt.

Culture and history

In Nenakonice stands the statue of an angel, a life-size Baroque sculpture associated with the pilgrimage church in Dub nad Moravou. It is a protected cultural monument and freely accessible. Nenakonice Castle is also located in Nenakonice and is considered a protected cultural monument. It was built between 1717 and 1730 and served as a cholera hospital in 1866.

In Rakodavy stands the Chapel of St. Anne with a bell tower. The free-standing elongated building has a semicircular apse and is a protected cultural monument. The first mention of the watermill in Věrovany dates back to the 13th century.

Tradition

The Hodové celebrations in honor of John the Baptist in Věrovany have been included in the List of Intangible Assets of Traditional Folk Culture of the Olomouc Region. The Věrovanka brass band regularly performs at these traditional Hodové celebrations.

Activities

The Moravská stezka cycling trail passes through Věrovany on the section between Dub nad Moravou and Tovačov. The TJ Sokol Věrovany sports complex includes a gymnasium and a fitness room.

Transport connections

Věrovany is connected by bus services in the direction of Olomouc–Kojetín and Přerov–Prostějov.
