Culture and History

Among Mutkov’s monuments is the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, a brick building with a rectangular floor plan and a semicircular end. The medieval castle site remains of Mutkov are presumably considered a predecessor of Sovinec Castle; there is no convenient path leading to them.

Mutkov was first mentioned in 1320 under the name Muchochov, also known as Molkov.

Landscape

Most of the area around Mutkov is covered by mixed and coniferous forests. The landscape around Mutkov is relatively varied and hilly. Class II road No. II/445 connects Mutkov with the surrounding settlements.

Cycling Routes

The marked KČT cycling route 6105 passes through Mutkov. The “Do hlubin věků” cycling route also passes through Mutkov, is 30 km long, is suitable for more experienced cyclists, and runs along asphalt and unpaved forest roads. A shorter singletrack through the forest leads to Mutkov.

Winter

The “Mutkoš” cross-country skiing race was held in Mutkov; it reached its fifth edition, and a trial run had already taken place in 2001.
