Velká Bystřice: Hotels and Accommodation

Velká Bystřice is home to a prominent landmark, the Church of the Beheading of Saint John the Baptist; it was first mentioned in 1283.

Culture and History

The Velká Bystřice château complex comprises the château, the buildings of the former brewery malt house, and the château park. The château park contains a newly built amphitheater with a varied seasonal program.

The Haná Costumes exhibition is located in the west wing of the château. It presents Haná and Blaťácké costumes, as well as costume components from private collections, the collection of the Haná folklore ensemble, and the depot of the Vlastivědné muzeum v Olomouci.

In Velká Bystřice, visitors can see the Husova sbor Church. The international folklore festival “Lidový rok” is also held in Velká Bystřice and was founded in 1989. The festival presents traditional music, dances, and crafts; it also welcomes ensembles from across Europe.

Galeriezet presents exhibitions by independent, prominent contemporary artists from the Czech Republic and abroad, including painting, drawing, graphic art, sculpture, photography, and video art. The gallery also organizes talks, concerts featuring classical, jazz, and alternative music, as well as poetry readings.

Hiking and Maps

A yellow-marked hiking trail runs through Velká Bystřice. A green-marked hiking trail begins at the railway stop in Velká Bystřice and leads through the valley of the Lošovský potok stream and past a water reservoir.

The Cultural and Information Center provides free cycling maps and tourist maps.
