Cholina: Hotels and Accommodation

The Parish Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Cholina was probably built as early as the 13th century, remodelled in the Gothic style at the beginning of the 14th century, and acquired its present Neo-Gothic appearance in the mid-19th century.

Culture and History

The Gothic statue of Our Lady of Cholina, dating from the early 15th century, contributed to Cholina being regarded as an important pilgrimage site in the first half of the 17th century. There is a chapel dating from 1693 at Svatá voda. A modern Stations of the Cross by the architect Bohumil Teplý is located on the surrounding wall of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.

The collection of the Hanácké muzeum Cholina began with props used by a local amateur theatre group in the 1950s. Today, the museum displays traditional costumes and examples of household furnishings from past eras.

Cholina is considered a typical Haná municipality with a linear village structure: buildings with their gables facing the street are arranged along wide streets or street squares.

Geographical Location

Horka Mountain is located in the wider regional surroundings of Cholina. This wider regional area also includes the memorial to the victims of the First and Second World Wars, the memorial to the victims of the First World War, the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, and Brníčko Castle.

Route

A described route from Cholina to Loučka begins at Cholina railway station and follows the blue hiking trail past the local church building, via Cholinský Dvorek and the Svatá Voda spring to Loučka.
