The Špraněk National Nature Reserve is located in the western part of the cadastral area of Luká.

Nature

The Špraněk National Nature Reserve encompasses underground and surface karst formations, including the Javoříčko Caves, chasms, a rock gate, ponors, sinkholes and karren. The Javoříčko Caves lie in the Devonian limestone of Mount Špraněk and extend across three underground levels. They are open to the public and are notable for their rich stalactite and stalagmite formations, as well as a complex system of passages, chasms and domes. Of the currently known passages, which have a total length of more than 3.5 kilometres, 788 metres are open to the public.

The Špraněk National Nature Reserve may only be entered via marked trails.

History

The Baroque Church of Saint John the Baptist stands in the village square of Luká. The present church was built in 1734 on the site of an older church.

The Javoříčko Memorial to the Victims of the Second World War is a national cultural monument commemorating the tragedy of 5 May 1945. It stands directly above the mass grave of the victims and takes the form of a larger-than-life group of six figures.

The former school next to the Javoříčko Memorial has been converted into a modern exhibition about the events at the end of the war. The exhibition depicts old Javoříčko before its destruction and provides information about the wartime events of that period. The Javoříčko educational trail begins at this former school, is one kilometre long, has nine stops and passes newly marked foundations of former houses that were burned down.

Educational Trails and Paths

The Špraněk educational trail is five kilometres long and begins and ends in Javoříčko. It runs through the Špraněk National Nature Reserve on a limestone hill. Along the way, visitors encounter the collapsed Zátvořice borehole, the Svěcená díra Cave and Zkamenělý zámek.

The Bouzov educational trail runs between Bouzov and Javoříčko through the valley of the Javoříčka stream and past the Panské rybníky ponds. It has seven stops, some of which offer covered seating with views of the landscape.

A path of approximately five kilometres around the Panské rybníky ponds is intended for pedestrians and cyclists.
