Vlčice: Hotels and accommodations
Vlčice is one of the oldest municipalities in the Jeseník area; a document from 1248 serves as evidence. The Church of St. Bartholomew is an example of Baroque architecture from the first half of the 18th century and was remodeled in the Baroque style between 1732 and 1742.
Local History and Culture
Vlčice Château is a former manor house dating from the second half of the 16th century and stands on the site of an earlier Gothic water castle. In 1829, it underwent a major remodeling in the Empire style. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dates from the second half of the 18th century.
On August 23, 2025, the traditional St. Bartholomew pilgrimage took place in Vlčice; on the following Sunday, a St. Bartholomew pilgrimage mass was celebrated in the local church.
Landscape
The three cadastral areas of Vlčice cover 1,865 hectares. Their northeastern part belongs to the gently rolling Vidnava Lowland, while the rest of the area forms the foothills of the Rychlebské hory mountains.
The English park around Vlčice Château was established by František Schaffgotsch in 1844–1845. The surviving château park in Vlčice is smaller than its original area of more than 40 hectares and still contains many interesting old trees. A partially preserved pond in the park in front of the château, together with the moat, formed part of the defense system of the former water castle.
Nature and Water
There are extensive reed beds in Dolní les in the cadastral area of Vlčice. Western marsh harriers regularly breed there, and in recent years also mute swans; reed warblers, reed buntings, and grasshopper warblers occur in association with reed and cattail stands.
In the Dolní Les district, Dolnoleský rybník serves as a natural outdoor swimming pool.
