Javornik: Hotels and Accommodation

Jánský Vrch Chateau is a landmark of Javorník, rising on a rocky hill above the town. It began as a Gothic castle named Jawirnik, was converted into a chateau at the beginning of the 16th century, and was given the name Jánský Vrch in the process. The guided tours showcase one of the largest pipe collections in the Czech Republic, as well as the chateau’s utility rooms. In addition, Jánský Vrch preserves unique historic gas lighting in the interiors and the main courtyard of the chateau.

Culture

The Kostel Nejsvětější Trojice Church in Javorník was built as a Baroque church between 1716 and 1723. Its present appearance dates from 1866 and follows the design of the builder Schwarzer. The round Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows was added to the Kostel Nejsvětější Trojice Church in 1755.

The Town Museum in Javorník features, among other things, a peasant room, a historic classroom, an armory, a gendarmerie station, and the town’s detention cells. The Town Museum also includes an exhibition on the history of gasworks, presenting the use of gas in Javorník from its beginnings to the present day.

The Rychlebská zřícenina is the ruin of a Gothic castle whose original name is unknown, standing on a rocky promontory of Přilba Hill, which was formed in the 13th century. Today, it is considered a romantic destination for visitors to the Rychleby Mountains.

The nearby Tančírna invites visitors to enjoy a café in an appealing setting and a diverse cultural programme.

Cycling Route

The “Po stopách sv. J. Nepomuckého” cycling route runs from the SOUD Tourist Centre in Javorník to Bílý Potok. There are five tourist shelters along the cycling route: three on the Polish side and two on the Czech side.

Geographical Setting

The nearby Čertovy kazatelny consist of unique gneiss rocks carved into the valley of the Račí potok stream.

Getting There

Javorník can be reached by train from Jeseník or Lipová lázně; a transfer to a motor train is required. By bus or car, Javorník can be reached via Road I/60 through Vápenná, Žulová, Skorošice, and Uhelná, as well as via Road II/457 from Mikulovice through Vidnava and Bernartice.
