Landscape and Townscape

Kladno is located in the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. The settlement developed as a typical elongated valley settlement, with smallholder homesteads on both sides of the Dolský stream.

Dědovský kopec [Dědová] hill is located in the vicinity of Kladno. The mountains Devět Skal, Žákova hora and Jarošov are also located around Kladno.

Paths and Structures

Cycle route 4122 runs through Kladno along a third-class road. The Kameničky–Hlinsko hiking trail also passes through Kladno.

The cadastral area of Kladno contains a historic vaulted stone bridge over the Vojtěchovský stream on the former imperial road I/34; it is designated as an interesting technical monument.

History and Culture

The first documented mention of Kladno dates from 1392; at that time, Kladno belonged to the Rychmburk estate.

The chapel in the centre of Kladno formerly also served as a fire station. Kladno maintains a memorial to those who fell in the First World War. Annual events in Kladno include a fair in November.
