Stary Dvur: Hotels and accommodation

Starý Dvůr is located on Cycle Route 1 in the Železné hory microregion. The route runs between Ronov nad Doubravou and the Seč–Trhová Kamenice–Hlinsko section. The “Around Seč” cycling tour starts and ends in Starý Dvůr.

Nature

The Lichnice–Kaňkovy hory educational trail covers forestry as well as the fauna and flora of the Železné hory region. It ends at a crossroads at the confluence of the Starodvorská and the Hedvikovská Gorge.

Hedvičino údolí is the valley of the Zlatý potok, which rises from the Pekelské rybníky ponds. The Hedvikovská Gorge in the Lichnice geological locality branches off in the direction of Kraskov and Starý Dvůr. The Lichnice locality is protected as a national nature reserve within the Železné hory Protected Landscape Area.

Culture and history

In the vicinity of Starý Dvůr stand the ruins of Lichnice Castle on a rocky hill 480 metres high; one of its towers houses the Milada lookout tower. The castle was founded around 1250 and demolished in 1649 by special order of Ferdinand III.

The local cultural heritage of Starý Dvůr includes a cast-iron cross on a sandstone pedestal and a modern bell tower from the 20th century. The late Classicist house No. 4 in Starý Dvůr was converted from a log construction into a masonry building before 1872. Mádlův rybník pond is located on the site of the former manor pond Cihelna.

The book “Jak šel čas pod Lichnicí”, published in December 2023, covers the history of Třemošnice and the local parts of Kubíkovy Duby, Hedvikov, Závratec, Lhůty, Podhradí, Starý Dvůr and Skoranov from the 13th century to 1945. It is available for purchase at the Třemošnice Library.
