Horní Roveň: Hotels and Accommodation

The present-day Church of Saint Catherine in Horní Roveň was built in 1697–1699 on the site of a wooden church. The church complex in the village centre is listed as an immovable cultural monument and was once a landmark of the village.

Culture

The freestanding brick bell tower of the Church of Saint Catherine has a pyramidal roof, measures 6.90 × 7.20 metres, and was built in 1799.

The rectory of Horní Roveň is a single-storey Baroque rural rectory dating from 1717. In 1829–1830, it was remodelled in the Classicist style; its original layout, with a spacious entrance hall, has been preserved. At the same time, the building is considered valuable evidence of the development of rural rectories in the 18th and 19th centuries.

South of the Church of Saint Catherine, a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary stands beside a field path and is listed as a cultural monument. The Chapel of Saint Wenceslas is a valuable small Baroque building dating from 1746. Also protected is the farmstead registered under number 23943/6-2074, an architecturally valuable enclosed agricultural complex with a former two-storey granary dating from 1864 and a gate.

Local History

A historic inn with a cultural centre has survived to this day in the former village centre. A railway station was also established in Horní Roveň in 1899.

In the wider surroundings of Horní Roveň, the area around Dolní Roveň can be reached via a marked trail from Uhersko railway station along the Lodrant reservoir, with beautiful views of the pond, and onward through Horní Jelení to Vysoké Chvojno.
