Veselí: Hotels and accommodation

Veselí lies at the foot of the Železné hory. Between natural landscapes, historical traces and clearly understandable transport routes, the town reveals several distinct facets.

Nature

The Struha Meanders natural monument covers the cadastral territory of Veselí u Přelouče. It protects the naturally developing Struha stream, its riparian vegetation, the floodplain forest and the adjacent meadows. The Veselí biocorridor was created on the site of the former Kuchyňka pond and expands the local recreational area.

History

The first written mention of Veselí dates from 23 July 1401. The origins of the Veselské tvrz date back to the middle of the 16th century; the new Veselská tvrz was built in 1559 below the dam of Návesník pond. At the beginning of the 20th century, the former grounds of the Veselské tvrz were known as “Hrádeček”.

Getting around

Road II/342 runs through Veselí from Valy towards Choltice; the class III Veselí–Klenovka road also leads towards Přelouč. A railway station on the Přelouč–Prachovice line is located on the northeastern edge of Veselí.

Cycle route No. 4127 from Třemošnice to Kokešov runs through Veselí and past Veselí u Přelouče railway station; the designated route is 38.50 km long.

Culture

The masked procession documented in Veselí u Přelouče on 24 February 2007 included a bear mask.
