Selmice: Hotels and Accommodations

Selmice is located on the right bank of the Elbe. The entire cadastral area of Selmice is part of the Kladrubské Polabí heritage zone.

Culture and History

The Františkov estate is part of Selmice. The Františkov stable complex was built between 1828 and 1831 based on a design by Mauritz Jahn. Selmice is also home to the Church of Saint Lawrence, an architecturally valuable Neo-Gothic building. Starý kštít is a remnant of the former Selmice stud farm.

The stables in the Františkov area are currently used to raise young horses, including yearlings as well as two- and three-year-old horses. The National Stud Farm traditionally uses the Selmická Aleje to bring foals to the Františkov rearing station in Selmice.

Landscape

The area around Selmice is partly wooded; otherwise, meadows and fields characterize the village. The 3.2 km-long tree-lined avenue in Selmice leads to the gate of the Františkov estate.

Geographical Location

In Selmice, a metal footbridge crosses the Elbe and continues to serve its purpose to this day.
