Valy: Hotels and accommodations

The Meandry Struhy nature monument is located in the cadastral area of Valy. It comprises the original meandering streambed of the Struha and the woodland complex surrounding the church of Lepějovice. Also protected are the naturally developing Struha stream, its riparian vegetation, the floodplain forest, and the adjacent meadows as part of the natural Elbe landscape.

Nature and landscape

The history of the landscape includes a relatively large pond system created in the mid-16th century in the shallow valley of the Zlatý potok near Valy. It comprised four large stocking ponds: Valský, Hluboký, Páral, and Lepějovský.

History and buildings

The early history of Valy is linked to the vanished settlement of Lepějovice, first mentioned in writing in 1167. Valy also preserves the remains of the former fortress in House No. 15. The exterior masonry of the house contains the remains of the old structure.

The “Z pěti kanálů” bridge is a protected technical monument dating from 1845. The Church of the Archangel Michael has a massive square tower with seven storeys.

At the site of the vanished settlement of Lepějovice stands the Lepějovice forester’s lodge southeast of Valy and approximately 100 metres southeast of the church of Lepějovice. It is a detached building on the edge of the forest at a crossroads of field paths.

Hiking, cycling, and railway connections

Near Valy u Přelouče, a green hiking trail leads to the former site of Lepějovice and continues along the meandering Struha stream. The route “When the Landscape Is Born – Meandry Struhy” begins in the municipality of Valy u Přelouče.
