Svatý Jiří: Hotels and Accommodation

The Church of Saint George is considered the dominant landmark of Svatý Jiří. It was built in the Romanesque style at the end of the 12th century and later remodelled in the Baroque style. The first documented written mention of Svatý Jiří dates back to 1199.

Location and History

Svatý Jiří is located 9 km northeast of Vysoké Mýto. The historic centre of Svatý Jiří is registered as an area with archaeological finds.

Sports and Events

There is a reservation system for the multipurpose sports field in Svatý Jiří. The O pohár obce Svatý Jiří competition takes place at the Pod Borovicí grounds. The fire brigade competition for children and young people has been held since 1992. The event takes place over two days, from Friday to Saturday, and features fire brigade disciplines according to the rules of the Plamen game; the programme also includes an evening children's disco.

Cycling and Water

On Route 4048 Ústí nad Orlicí – Brandýs n. O. – Sudslava, Svatý Jiří has a marked point at kilometre 23.40. Route 4048 is signposted as a road route and runs along paved roads of the second and third classes. It is suitable for all types of bicycles.

The fire-water reservoir in Svatý Jiří may be used for swimming by local residents.
