Osík: Hotels and Accommodations

In the lower part of Osík, a stone arch bridge crosses the Desinka near Vesní rybník. It is a cultural monument.

Culture and History

In the center of Osík stands an Art Nouveau school building that was opened in September 1912 and has served the education of school-age children for more than a century. Its façade bears the sentence “Mysli a až pak jednej.”

The White Gallery primarily preserves the life’s work of the painter and graphic artist Ludmila Jandová (1938–2008). Its repository also contains a collection of prints by more than 300 artists. The White Gallery can be visited daily by prior telephone appointment.

The Lazaret in Osík was established as a hospital commissioned by the Litomyšl estate during the plague epidemic of 1713. After the plague spared the area in 1713, healthy residents moved into the original lazaret buildings and established additional homes there.

Places and Activities

The Osík sports complex includes a multi-purpose artificial-turf field, a synthetic running track with a long-jump facility and sandpit, two tennis courts, and a small artificial-turf football pitch. The sports complex is also available to the public for sporting activities. Under suitable climatic conditions, an ice rink can be set up on the multi-purpose field of the Osík sports complex by arrangement with the administrator.

Nature

On the so-called Zmrzlý kopec, rock fissures retain ice even in the summer heat.
