Suchá Lhota presents a cohesive village settlement pattern characterized by old farmhouses with gabled roofs. The immediate surroundings are predominantly agricultural land; smaller wooded areas are found mainly in the valleys and along the edges of the cadastral territory.
Village Centre and History
In the village centre stands the Chapel of St. Anne next to a small ornamental garden, a monument to those who fell in the First World War, and a crucifix. The chapel was probably built in 1888. The monument to those who fell in the First World War standing next to it was created in 1920 from Hořice stone by the sculptor p. Vocha from Česká Třebová, and records the names and photographs of fallen and missing soldiers. The water tower, built in 1929, is a prominent landmark of Suchá Lhota.
Hiking and Cycling
The approximately 9 km-long hiking route „Suchá Lhota – Cerekvice“ begins in Suchá Lhota and leads via Mošnovy and Bučina to Cerekvice. In the wider regional area, a cycling route connects attractive places with Litomyšl, Vysoké Mýto and Nové Hrady; a possible connection leads towards the Maštale Nature Reserve. The Municipality of Suchá Lhota organizes cycling tours, including in the surrounding area of the municipality. The „Mlýn Horky – Růžový palouček – Nové Hrady“ cycling circuit also passes through Suchá Lhota, among other places. A bus connection links Suchá Lhota with Litomyšl.
Culture and Community Life
A village theatre ensemble from Suchá Lhota, revived in 2019, has performed several repeat shows in picturesque municipalities in the region. Víťa Fest is a public memorial festival held for the second time in the cultural area of Suchá Lhota, with bands performing throughout the day. During the festive season, the Chapel of St. Anne is ceremonially decorated and opened to all who wish to reflect there in peace and experience a contemplative atmosphere. The fire-water reservoir and its surroundings are used as a bathing area.
Library and Regional Cuisine
The municipal library has newly equipped rooms for reading, studying and relaxing, as well as books of fiction, children's and young adult literature, and non-fiction. Traditional Posvícení in Suchá Lhota includes a communal lunch with duck, dumplings and cabbage. At an event in Suchá Lhota, the local Sucholhotecké Topinky were offered for tasting. The Sucholhotecký blešák took place on 7 June 2025 from 2 p.m. in the cultural area of the Municipality of Suchá Lhota.
