Štichovice: Hotels and Accommodation

Štichovice lies in the landscape along the middle course of the Střela, 5 km east of Manětín, at an elevation of 458 m. At the same time, the village is situated on a plateau above the Manětínský potok stream.

Nature and Landscape

Štichovice is one of the settlements that mark the boundary of the Horní Střela Nature Park. The Horní Střela Nature Park protects the deeply incised, meandering valley of the Střela, with typical forests on rocky slopes.

History and Villagescape

Štichovice was first mentioned in writing in 1406. In the first half of the 15th century, Štichovice appears among the possessions of the Order of St. John in Manětín.

A pond dominates the large, roughly circular village green of Štichovice. There are numerous crosses, regularly renewed wooden crosses and small stone monuments in Štichovice and its surroundings. Most of the monuments remain in their original locations and are cared for by volunteers from the village.

Culture

The chapel in Štichovice is a small village chapel from the early 19th century with a three-sided apse, a low triangular gable with a sundial and a roof turret on the ridge. The Church of St. Peter and Paul is a prominent landmark of Štichovice; the building dates back to the 14th century and was extensively remodeled in the 17th century.

The stone wayside shrine stands southwest of the village green of Štichovice, on the right side of the road from the village toward the so-called New Road to Manětín. The year 1721 is engraved on the base. The wayside shrine is a sandstone cross on a cylindrical column and a rectangular base.

Geographical Setting

Berdovna and Vladař, two mountains, lie in the vicinity of Štichovice. In the immediate vicinity are Hůrky [Štichovice] and Citeř [Hvozd - Hodoviz], both hills.
